Movie Review: “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” – NO SPOILERS

For those of you who know me well enough, you all know that this is one of those movies that I’ve been waiting for my whole life. Both Superman and Batman have always been in my top 2 of favorite Superheroes. And while I am enjoying the heck out of what Marvel has been doing with their properties, I have always been a DC fan at heart. So, this should warn you already, that I have a bias towards wanting to like this movie.

As it says in the titles, I am not putting any spoilers in, so this will be quite short. Perhaps later I’ll do a spoiler review, but for now, here’s the break down.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. What’s not to enjoy? My favorite heroes are on screen together! However, speaking honestly and critically, I do feel like the move could have been a little bit shorter. There were a few scenes that perhaps didn’t need to be there, or maybe could have been shortened a little bit. The story seemed to have a lot going on, not so much that I couldn’t follow it, but at times seemed to jump from place to place. Not enough to detract from the enjoyment of the movie though. It’s tricky to discuss the movie without giving too much away because there was so much going on that it probably needs a second viewing.

Ben Affleck, was very good as Batman, pretty much lifted from the pages of a Frank Miller comic, which worked for this older experienced Batman. Henry Cavill, definitely a good Superman. Gal Gadot, I enjoyed as Wonder Woman, she was great! The only cast member I was a bit torn on was Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. I get what they were going for, and enjoyed it, but still, for me Michael Rosenbaum has been the best live action Luthor.

Action scenes were great! I mean, lets be honest, Zack Snyder’s visuals are always awesome.

In short, I’d give it a B, which is what….7.5/10? Or something like that. It was good, enjoyable, but honestly speaking I wish they had tidied a few bits and pieces up.
